The Cafe Chair is an exploration of exoticism in industrially produced furniture. The intent is not to use carbon fiber efficiently, but to create a narrative based on the symbolism of the material. Implications of futurism and technological advancement are juxtaposed with the story created by the hand worked.
Colonial-era tea tables are an Anglo-American interpretation of Rococo - there is an overall embodiment of order and unpredictability, which locates this object in "Rococo culture". This object pays homage to the colonial-era original by creating a carbon fiber copy.
