Benjamin Kicic (RISD BFA 2013) is a Croatian-American artist and designer who describes his work at its core to be 'politely subversive'. Benjamin explores how methods of construction can inform objects' narrative. Incorporating humor into a broader dialogue concerning signifiers of domesticity and luxury, his work often falls somewhere between designed product and art object. Benjamin creates objects with a feeling of function/dysfunction through juxtaposing elements of the everyday and moments of the unfamiliar. Currently based in New York City, Benjamin has been featured in numerous galleries and group shows, as well as collaborated on a number of projects for well-known clients across the US.
